Rumba Guaguanco

The Rumba Guaguanco comes from Cuba

Afro-Cuban influence in Cuba is emblematically displayed in the rumba of which there exists the slow yambu, fast columbia, and medium tempo guaguanco.

Origin

The Guanguanco is medium tempo and is a display of interaction between an man and a woman whereas the man dances gracefully around the woman attempting to “vaccinate” her by using arms, legs, feet, head, shoulder, etc.

The Yambu is slow and is danced by an old man and woman.

The Columbia is fast and is a display of dance virtuosity.
